Church Content Plugin 1.8 – New Name

Church Content plugin version 1.8 has been released.

Wait, what’s the Church Content plugin? It is the plugin formerly known as “Church Theme Content” that our themes use. Over the years, we’ve seen the plugin called all kinds of things so we decided to simplify the name. The way it works has not changed, just the name – although there are other improvements in this release.

New Mobile Menu for Resurrect Theme

Resurrect New Mobile Menu

Every church needs a mobile-friendly website. That means having a responsive design and a menu that is easy to use on phones.

Our Resurrect WordPress theme was launched with a very simplistic mobile menu that has been replaced with a new, more modern mobile menu which you can see in the photo above. We released Resurrect version 1.8 yesterday to make this improvement available to you.

WordPress Update Error: Failed to write request to temporary file

One of the WordPress plugins I use on two sites had an update. On the first site, it updated fine as always. On this site (which is hosted on a different server), the plugin update failed with an error message that I had not seen until today.

An error occurred while updating Simple Share Buttons Adder: Download failed. Failed to write request to temporary file.

Sometimes WordPress file and permission errors can be tricky but the solution for this was pretty simple.

A Round of Theme Updates

Note: Additional updates were made on October 9 to address a bug some users were experiencing with the Customizer. Read changelogs for details.

Both our Exodus and Resurrect WordPress themes have been updated.

Resurrect now has a German translation thanks to Dirk Hoffmann and Urban Life Church. Both themes received minor improvements and fixes. Refer to the changelog for your theme for full details.

Jetpack Publicize Support Added

Jetpack Publicize

The Jetpack plugin has a module called Publicize. It automatically shares your new posts on social media when you publish them.

It works for blog posts out of the box but not for custom post types. Custom post types must specifically support Jetpack Publicize. Version 1.1 of our Church Theme Content plugin adds this support. Now you can automatically share new sermons and events on Facebook and Twitter.
