Just ChurchThemes.com. That’s all our company is focused on now.

ChurchThemes.com has been a part of DreamDolphin Media, LLC since we launched the theme shop in 2013. DreamDolphin Media itself was started long ago in 2002. We’ve tackled a lot of projects over the years. In fact, I looked back at our records and saw that we have registered more than 100 domain names in 17 years.

We’ve renamed the company to ChurchThemes.com, LLC after spending the last couple years unloading other projects. We’re focused. Easy church websites with WordPress. That’s it.

Which church web hosting providers are the best?

We surveyed customers using our church WordPress themes to ask them to rate and provide feedback on different aspects of the web hosting company they use. 200 churches responded, giving us plenty of data to rank web hosting providers with. This list of hosting companies will help your church make the best choice and avoid getting stuck with a bad host.

We are including web hosts that received at least three responses for in our survey. Most of the churches are using providers that are not specifically church web hosting. By that, I mean they are hosting providers in general. There are very view church web hosts. What a church needs is good hosting, so let’s take a look at who does and doesn’t meet that need.

How easy will it be for you to switch WordPress themes in the future? Most theme users probably don’t ask themselves this question. Why would you? WordPress lets you switch themes with a few clicks so things should work smoothly. But that’s only the case if your theme was developed following WordPress standards in order to avoid the lock-in effect.

Much has been written for WordPress theme developers on the lock-in effect while hardly anything has been aimed at theme users like you to explain what the lock-in effect is and how to avoid it. I feel this is necessary because there are still many themes built without consideration for your ability to switch in the future.

WordPress Saves You Money on a Website

A few days ago I was checking up on what some hosted website building services are doing. They’re something like WordPress as far as being “do it yourself” content management systems, but proprietary and hosted by their makers. Some are good solutions. I ran across one that is perhaps good but their marketing strategy was interesting. They had a page detailing all the reasons not to use WordPress, likely because WordPress solutions are significant competition.

I disagreed with much of what was written but one reason in particular stood out — the cost. Their premise was that WordPress is low cost and therefore a low quality solution that should be avoided, lest hidden costs and difficulties arise.

We launched churchthemes.com and the Resurrect WordPress theme earlier this week.

There is not yet a blog at churchthemes.com (it was a greater priority to launch ASAP). If we did have one, I would have made an official-looking launch post. Instead, I want to share here on my personal blog about what’s behind the project. In short, I want to speak my mind about starting a business, development philosophy, pricing models, web hosting and marketing. And I want to tell it a bit like a tale.
