Theme Updates for WordPress 4.3

Both the Exodus and Resurrect themes have been updated with various improvements including considerations for the Customizer in the WordPress 4.3 release. Both of our themes are compatible but to get the most out of WordPress 4.3 and to take advantage of the other improvements to the themes, we recommend updating to the latest version right now.

Exodus Theme Now Available in French and Portuguese

We’re happy to announce that the Exodus theme now includes French and Portuguese translations. The theme has been updated to version 1.4.3. You can follow these steps to use one of the new translations.

New Mobile Menu for Resurrect Theme

Every church needs a mobile-friendly website. That means having a responsive design and a menu that is easy to use on phones.

Our Resurrect WordPress theme was launched with a very simplistic mobile menu that has been replaced with a new, more modern mobile menu which you can see in the photo above. We released Resurrect version 1.8 yesterday to make this improvement available to you.

New Features: Events Calendar & Categories

We are very excited to announce that two of the most requested features are now available and ready for you to use. These features are a monthly events calendar and event categories. Let’s take a look at them.

Dutch Translation for Resurrect Theme

A Dutch translation is now included with the Resurrect church WordPress theme. This translation was contributed by Het Kruispunt, a church in Alphen aan den Rijn, The Netherlands. We are very grateful to them for sharing their translation.

Custom Recurring Events 1.0

We’re excited to announce that the Custom Recurring Events plugin is now available. This is our first add-on for the Church Theme Content plugin.

What exists right now without this add-on are basic recurrence options for weekly, monthly and yearly. We’ve had many requests for “every X weeks” (bi-weekly, in particular) and the ability to make events recur on a particular week of the month, like “every second Wednesday”. The purpose of this add-on is to meet needs like these in order to save you time (ie. not having to manually move dates forward).

Church Theme Content 1.2 – Event Time Fields

Version 1.2 of the Church Theme Content plugin has been released. It adds new time fields for both users and theme developers. These features improve the order in which same-day events are shown. The plugin has also been made ready for add-ons (we’ll be releasing the first add-on shortly). This information is intended for both regular users and theme developers.

Our support system is powered by Help Scout. It works like email on your end. On our end, it’s a full-blown ticketing system with features that help us provide better support. One of the latest features Help Scout has added is Satisfaction Ratings. What you see above is a summary of the Happiness Report for December that Help Scout generated from support satisfaction ratings provided by our customers.

Pricing Adjustments and the Future

It has been more than a year since churchthemes.com launched. We have had the privilege of helping many churches build a new website, for which we are very grateful. We have learned a lot.

Theme pricing has remained the same since launching. Our themes are not at the bottom of the pricing barrel nor are they the most expensive, but they are on the lower end ($30 to $100 being the general range for professional WordPress themes). It has been clear for several months that a price increase is necessary in order to continue meeting the needs of our customers while running a sustainable business.
